Mateusz Staniak
director and writer
Mateusz Staniak (born 1990 in Leszno, Poland) is a theatre director, writer and researcher.
Between 2008 and 2012, he studied Theatre Studies, History of Philosophy and Social Communication at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
In 2016, he relocated to Amsterdam to study Theatre Directing at the Academy of Theatre and Dance, graduating in 2020. In 2022, he participated in the F for Fact programme at the Sandberg Instituut.
His artistic practice operates across theatre and writing, exploring the intersections of language, perception, and social production of reality. He explores how meaning is constructed, negotiated, and embodied, paying particular attention to the political and poetic dimensions of communication. His projects often engage with questions of representation, collective imagination, and the conditions through which knowledge is produced and shared. He in currently based in Berlin, Germany.
